Monday Mileage Report

Despite Thanksgiving travel and picking up really annoying cold, I managed to stick to the plan pretty closely.

Actually, I ran my Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday runs faster than I was supposed to!  Thursday morning Mom and I took the dogs for a DIY Turkey Trot around the neighborhood.  My legs were completely dead and I just wanted to run at recovery pace, but Mom and the dogs were not in on that plan.  Didn't run anywhere close to my 5K race pace (a not all that speedy 8:54) but still a good bit faster than I wanted to go that morning.
Rowdy and Moose
I ran with Rowdy, the little guy.  It was his first real run and he did not seem the least bit tired!  He was pulling on the leash and trying to lunge forward right up until the end.  Lucky for me he weighs less than 20 pounds.  When Moose wants to go fast, I'm not strong enough to slow her down!

After a some solid fueling (aka Thanksgiving dinner) and a rest day on Friday, my legs were back in action for the weekend runs.  I was not happy when I discovered that I'd forgotten to repack my rain jacket after wearing it on Wednesday's pre-flight run, but I ran outside anyway.  I'd rather have my family think I'm crazy than spend any more time than I absolutely have to on the treadmill.  I HATE the treadmill.  Saturday's marathon pace run ended up being much faster than my planned marathon pace of 10:30-10:45.

I'm not sure what this means for my goal marathon pace, but I'm scared to push it after the 12:30-pace debacle that was my first marathon performance.  I ended up way overdressing for the run, despite not having a rain jacket -- can you tell when I stopped to take off my gloves and extra shirt?

This was a cutback week, so my long run was only 6 miles.  Which again meant that I ran a little faster than the usual LSD pace, but I felt comfortable the whole time so I didn't worry about it too much.  It's so nice to run in Wilmette and not get stuck forever at stop lights!  I still took walk breaks to drink every 2 miles to try to get in the habit of stopping at aid stations (although I tried that in the last training cycle, too, and it didn't seem to do much).

I'm excited for this week's training since I get to do my first long run over 10 miles since the last marathon.
